Linda Bernasconi
As a long-time talent agent, I promoted and fostered the artistry and talents of others, but was frustrated with the lack of a creative outlet for my own personal expression. This is when I discovered metalwork.
As a designer, I am particularly captivated by combining metals, color and texture.
My woven work begins by hand-building a sterling silver wire framework which creates a loom on which to weave. I weave with fine silver and 22k gold. Flat weave is hand-fabricated with thin strips of silver and gold-soldered to a base of silver and formed.
Light-catching texture is created by grinding down silver into dust and fusing the dust in layers on the silver piece. These are then finished with a variety of patinas including fused 22k gold and a blackening agent.
